Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Almond extract
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Almonds, chopped
  • 1 cup Butter, Unsalted
  • 1/2 cup Candied/maraschino cherries, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Mix in the almond extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped almonds and cherries.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar to coat.
  9. Let cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
