Description

A comforting layered dish with pasta, cheese, and rich meat sauce.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil to the meat. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, eggs, and half of the Parmesan.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and sauce. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella.
  8. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Letting lasagna rest before serving helps it hold its shape.
