Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar for about three minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and mix until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then gradually add to the wet ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions and roll them into balls, placing them on the baking sheet.
  7. Press your thumb into the center of each ball to create wells.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes; the edges should be firm while the center softens.
  9. Remove from the oven and fill each thumbprint with chocolate chips while warm.
