Description

A delicious classic lasagna layered with rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown ground beef and pork over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce to the meat mixture and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer 3 lasagna noodles, half the ricotta mixture, a layer of meat sauce, and a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, replace the meats with sautéed vegetables.
