Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the molasses.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with hot water, and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before frosting. For the frosting, mix molasses, cinnamon, and additional ingredients until smooth and creamy, then spread over the cooled cake.
