A heartwarming gingerbread cake topped with a creamy cinnamon molasses frosting, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy evenings at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tsp Ginger, ground
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 tsp Cloves, ground
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Butter, unsalted
  • 1 cup Water, hot

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the molasses.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with hot water, and mix until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
