Description

A rich and harmonious combination of red velvet cake and creamy cheesecake, perfect for celebrations and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup strawberry or raspberry jam
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tub frosting
  • 1 tbsp red gel food coloring
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 32 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Red velvet crumbs (from cake trimming)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the eggs, sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, vanilla, lemon juice, and vinegar until smooth.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Add red gel food coloring and mix until incorporated.
  5. Divide the batter into prepared cake pans and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool completely.
  7. For the cheesecake layer, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Assemble the cake by layering red velvet cake, cheesecake, and frosting in between.
  9. Top with frosting and decorate with chocolate chips and red velvet crumbs.
  10. Chill before serving.
