Description

A delightful festive dessert combining rich chocolate cake, creamy vanilla pudding, and sweet cherries, all layered and topped with whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Cherry
  • 2 cups Cherries (pitted, with juice or syrup), canned or fresh
  • 1 box Chocolate cake mix
  • 1 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Dark chocolate shavings
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 cups Vanilla pudding, store-bought or homemade

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and bake as directed. Allow to cool completely.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Cut the cooled chocolate cake into cubes.
  4. In a trifle dish, layer the chocolate cake cubes, cherry compote, and whipped cream.
  5. Repeat the layers, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  6. Garnish with dark chocolate shavings and additional cherries.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 240 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.

Notes

Best enjoyed within the first couple of days when the layers are still fresh and vibrant. Avoid freezing the trifle as it may alter the texture.
