Description

A delightful and moist poke cake soaked with rich praline sauce, topped with chopped pecans and optional whipped cream, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in brown sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until thick and bubbly. Add chopped pecans and cook for another minute.
  5. Once the cake is done, remove it and let it cool for 15 minutes. Poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  6. Pour the warm praline sauce over the cake, letting it soak for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Serve warm or chilled. Top with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the batter. The cake can also be made ahead and refrigerated for enhanced flavors.
